Make It With Beads - Table

Make It With Beads:

Table:

The next post under the label 'Make It With Beads' is the making of small, beautiful table with beads. This table has a hexagonal shaped top and a pedestal leg with a tripod style base. I had a model from my mom for this table. I have already made one table a long before and found it very easy to make it with beads. This can be made by anyone who are all interested in this form of art even the beginners as it do not have much complicated patterns. This table has a matching chair which would be posted soon. Let us check out the materials needed to make this table and the method of making this table.

Materials Needed:

  • Beads : 2 mm (Light green and Dark green colour beads)
  • String / Wire : 0.3 mm / 0.4 mm
  • Needle : Suitable for both the beads and string
  • Scissors

Method:

  • Take the desired length of string. Insert the needle at one end of the string and make a knot at the other end of the string.
  • This is a hexagonal shaped table. So, it should be made starting with 6 beads which forms the six sides of the table.
  • The process of inserting the needle into the beads are the same but the only thing which differs is the 6 beaded structure.
  • Start the table from the centre with dark green colour beads.
  • Take 6 dark green colour beads and insert the needle back into the first bead in the opposite direction. This forms the first 6 beaded structure and this is the first round.

  • Moving onto the second round, take 5 light green beads and insert the needle again into one of the dark green beads.

  • This forms the first 6 beaded structure in the second round.
  • For the next 6 beaded structure, take 4 beads and insert back into the two beads from previous structures.

  • Continue the same for the next 3 dark green colour beads by taking 4 light green colour beads and making 6 beaded structure.
  • For the last one, just take 3 beads to form the 6 beaded structure while the other 3 beads are got from the previously made  6 beaded structures.

  • Now move onto the third round which is made with dark green colour beads.
  • Start the round in the corner and take 5 dark green colour beads to make the 6 beaded structure.
  • Then insert the needle into the 2 light green colour beads at the base and take just 3 dark green colour beads to for the next 6 beaded structure.

  • Now comes the next corner in which we have the string at the corner light green bead and have to take 4 dark green beads to make the next 6 beaded structure.
  • Then comes the side again in which we have the string at he 2 light green beads at the base and again take 3 dark green beads to make the 6 beaded structure.
  • Repeat the same steps for the entire round by taking 3 dark green beads for the sides and 4 dark green beads at the corners.
  • When reached at the end of the round, just take 2 dark green beads to form the 6 beaded structure and complete round.
  • Now move on to the round 4 which is made with dark green beads.
  • The process is the same as before the round 3.

  • Round 4 is started from the corner bead by taking 5 light green beads to make 6 beaded structure.
  • Then moving to the sides and taking 3 light green colour beads to make the 6 beaded structure.
  • When reaching the corner, take 4 light green colour beads and continue the round.
  • The only difference between the round 3 and round 4 is : In round 3, we make 6 beaded structures on one side by taking one 3 extra beads and the corner with 4 extra beads.
  • But in round 4, on one side, we have to take 2 times 3 extra beads and at the corner with 4 extra beads to make the 6 beaded structures.
  • The end of the round is the same in which we take just 2 beads to make the 6 beaded structure to finish the round.
  • The we move on to the round 5 which is again made with dark green colour beads.
  • Everything else is the same as the round 4 except the number of 6 beaded structures made at the sides.
  • For round 5, we have to make 6 beaded structures on the sides by taking 3 extra beads 3 times. The number of beads taking in the corner and at the remains the same as that of the round 4.
  • Once one hexagonal top of the table is made, follow the same steps and make one more hexagonal top similar to the first one made.

  • Measure the size of the hexagonal top made and cut out cardboard in the same size to be placed in between both the hexagonal tops made.
  • Now we have to join both the hexagonal tops having the cardboard in between.
  • The joining is also the same in which we have to make the same 6 beaded structure.
  • While joining, 4 dark colour beads are got from the hexagonal tops in which 2 beads from the top and the other 2 beads are at he bottom.
  • We have to take just 2 light green beads and join them to make the 6 beaded structure.
  • Bring the string to the bottom and insert into the 2 dark green colour beads and take 1 light green colour bead and then insert the needle in to the 2 dark green bead at the top.
  • Again take one light green bead and insert the needle into the dark green beads at he bottom.
  • This forms the 6 beaded structure while joining both the hexagonal tops.

  • Repeat the steps to continue joining the hexagonal tops until three-fourth way is reached.
  • There will be a small opening left, stuff some cotton in between the joined tops to give it a nice sturdy look.
  • Then finish the joining process by repeating the above steps.
  • Now the hexagonal top has been completed and we move on to make the pedestal leg.
  • Bring the string to the centre of the top which is made on the 6 dark green beads.

  • From one of the 6 dark green beads, make 4 beaded structure by taking one dark green, one light green and dark green beads.
  • Then move on to the next bead in the 6 beaded structure and make 4 beaded structure by taking just 2 beads, one light green and one dark green beads.
  • Repeat steps for the remaining beads in the centre and at the last bead just take one dark green bead to complete the round. This forms one complete set of 4 beaded structure in the 6 beaded centre.
  • Repeat the same until we make 8 complete sets which forms the central pedestal leg.
  • Now we move on to make the tripod base from the pedestal leg.

  • The end of the leg has 6 beads among which we have to make the tripod base in three alternate beads.
  • In one of the 6 beads, take 3 beads as before one dark green, one light green and one dark green beads and make the 6 beaded structure.
  • Then move on to the next bead and take one light green and one dark green bead to make the next 4 beaded structure.
  • In this we have to make a complete set of 4 beaded structures 4 times.
  • Then move to the next alternate bead from the central pedestal leg and repeat the same steps before to make the second base.
  • And finally in the next alternate bead, make another leg of the tripod base.
  • Totally the 3 legs of the tripod bases are made.

  • These legs would be loose and not able to stand stiffly. Take some chemical free match sticks or toothpicks and insert into the legs to make it stiff and strong by which the table can stand firmly by its own.
  • Now beautiful and small table is made with beads 😊
